5 Twilight Wigs That Slay and 5 That Suck
If you are reading this, you probably like Twilight. And if you like Twilight, you probably know at least a little about the many, many wigs that were used throughout the feature film saga. Some of them are cute, some of them are fun, and some of them are even beloved, but others can be… offensive (we love you Eclipse but, girl, get it together!)
In Stephenie Meyer’s vampire lore, the transformation from human to ‘the cold ones’ turns you into a physically perfect being. There is no denying that the cast of Twilight fit the bill, and that often their hair can be an important signifier of their attractiveness or coolness, but the sometimes-crusty, often-lopsided wigs some actors are forced to sport can be icky enough to throw off even the most dedicated viewer.
In this wigciting Movie List, we at The Film Magazine have scoured every scene in all 5 Twilight movies to select for you 5 Twilight wigs that slayed and 5 Twilight wigs that sucked, going on a hair journey from the first line, “I’ve never given much thought to how I would die,” all the way to Christina Perri’s iconic final song, “A Thousand Years”. For your viewing pleasure, we will be alternating between bad wigs and good wigs, culminating in the worst of them all and the best of the best. These are 5 Twilight Wigs That Slayed and 5 That Sucked.
5. Sucks – Jasper in New Moon

In the world of Twilight wigs, sometimes “terrible” and “iconic” are synonymous.
Jasper the Confederate always looks slightly terrifying (and also slightly terrified – please blink, just once), but the image of him lunging at Bella after she sustains a papercut in New Moon (2009) is one that is burned into the minds of many Twilight fans.
Jasper is one of the most meme-able characters, effectively doing nothing but wide-eyed staring until Eclipse (2010) where he reveals he was a Confederate soldier in The Civil War. Icky.
Jackson Rathbone had sported his natural locks in the first movie, but switched to this hideous grandma wig for the second movie.
Perhaps most off-putting are the wispy baby bangs that frame his face, as he races forwards in slow motion, wearing his birthday party smart-shirt-and-cashmere-jumper combo.
It is unclear why the hair and makeup team decided this was a cute look for Jasper, but it has certainly become iconic.
5. Slays – Esme in Twilight

Esme is one of the few characters who began her Twilight journey with a wig and then went on to don her natural hair for the rest of the franchise.
In most cases, an actor’s natural hair is superior to their Twilight wig, but in the case of Esme, the wig is stunning.
We first meet Esme in her home when Bella formally meets Edward’s adopted vampire family for the first time. Esme is warm and welcoming, and her wig lends to the classy housewife look she gives off. This wig suggests a gentle blend between a polished and trendy modern woman, and an elegant 1920s lady – her look is truly timeless.
