The Film Magazine: 2014-2024
This Is Goodbye
It is with great sadness and our deepest thanks that we announce the closure of The Film Magazine, effective 31st Dec 2024.
For 10 years we have pursued a dream only the mad and madly passionate would be bold enough to chase. Now it is time to say goodbye to our modest but beloved publication, and for us to say goodbye to you.
We started our journey as a humble Tumblr blog and grew into an online publication with more than 3.2million freely accessible words on cinema. Through huge changes to the world, to our industry, and to each of us personally, we have presented you with more than 2,300 articles, more than 20,000 social posts, hundreds of film-related merchandise designs, and hopefully thousands of ideas regarding what to watch next.
Through it all, we asked only for a few moments of your time. And you always delivered. More than 3million of you have visited us over our lifetime. For such a small business, run by people motivated only by the passion they feel for the art of film, this is remarkable. There will never be enough words to thank you for bringing us such joy and motivation, but thank you nonetheless.
The Film Magazine will remain online and free to access until at least January 2030, thanks to your support during our renewal period at the beginning of 2024. Though the site will no longer be updated, every article we’ve published will remain freely available via our homepage, menu items, and search function.
If you would like to continue to support our staff, their social handles are available via our website’s “Staff” page, accessible via our main menu. This core group is amongst the most well-qualified and exceptional of any in the world, and they deserve all the love they can get moving forward.
Thank you for sharing this journey with us. You are appreciated beyond words.
