10 Best Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Moments

8. Perry’s Slap

Off-screen, Jenna’s funeral is underway, but the camera stays with Perry (Val Kilmer) as he enters the bedroom of Harmony’s father. The old man is now ill and frail. Perry issues him one hard sharp slap.
The old man, indignant at this attack, wheezes ‘you bastard! Old man that can’t defend himself. Big tough guy.’ Perry agrees, ‘yeah, that’s right. Big tough guy.’

It’s not exactly a win, because no one’s a winner in the Lane household, but it feels close. Even though it’s gratuitous, it is satisfying.

7. Colin Farrell Wants Too Much Money

In an argument about Harry overstepping and forcing Perry out of his comfort zone, Perry drops the bomb that Harry was never going to get the gig, he was nothing more than a pawn in Dabney’s (Larry Miller’s) game to entice Colin Farrell to his movie.

Harry is obviously disappointed, perhaps he was excited about being in a movie (beside the one he is currently narrating) or perhaps he had simply allowed himself to wish for more than his life in New York. Perry’s developing warmth for Harry is beginning to show here and it’s an unassuming way to move the story forward; if Harry doesn’t leave for the airport, he doesn’t bump into Flicka and blow the case wide open.

6. “Who taught you math?”

Harry has one kill under his belt and it has been a stressful couple of days – his finger’s in a dog’s belly, he has been tortured and humiliated, he doesn’t really understand what’s going on. He wants a modicum of power. A scrap of self-esteem. And what better way to do that than with a spot of Russian Roulette?

He is in control for less than a second.

His look of shock as Harry kills his second victim of the night is priceless. His kill count is climbing, he doesn’t know where Harmony (Michelle Monaghan) is, his cock-sure attitude of three seconds ago is vapourised. ‘There was like an 8% chance,’ he states, pleadingly at Perry. Perry is not skilled in hiding his disdain.
