2020 BAFTA Film Awards Nominees – Full List

The nominees for the 2020 BAFTA Film Awards were announced from BAFTA, Piccadilly, London on 7th January 2020 via social media, with Scarlett Johansson and Margot Robbie being the biggest headline grabbers as dual nominees in the acting categories, Johansson being nominated in the Best Actress category for Marriage Story and Supporting Actress category for Jojo Rabbit, while Robbie will square off against herself in the Supporting Actress category for her roles in Bombshell and Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood.

In a quick announecement hosted by Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels) and Asa Butterfield (‘Sex Education’), the nominees for BAFTA’s first new award in over 20 years, the award for Best Casting, were also announced with some of the 2020 BAFTAs’ most successful films landing nominations, including Joker which also earned Best Film and Director nods.

Following a year in which British production The Favourite swept the awards with 7 wins overall, the British Academy has again leaned strongly into homegrown productions with World War I movie 1917, from British director Sam Mendes, being among the most celebrated of all films nominated in 2020.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts will present their annual awards show on Sunday 2nd February 2020 from the Royal Albert Hall in London, with popular British TV host Graham Norton already announced as the ceremony’s host.
