3. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010)

Finally, we see our main characters preparing for war against Voldemort after ten years of his torment. Filled to the brim with anticipation and the revealing of secrets, Part 1 sees Harry, Ron and Hermione on the hunt for horcruxes and the deathly hallows in the hope of defeating Voldemort before it’s too late.

This film, like its sequel, wrenches at the heart strings, providing an almighty emotional punch along with how it lays out what is to come in the more action-filled Part 2.

2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001)

The Philosopher’s Stone gets bumped down from the top spot on the grounds that our number one provides an infinitely more satisfying moment of catharsis for invested viewers, though it is particularly evident that this first movie is spectacular; mesmerising first-look at Hogwarts and all.

This was the film that made fans’ dreams come true, the spectacular technical achievements in creating visual effects worthy of the anticipation and our first look at who we’d come to grow with over the coming ten years making for something truly special not only in the canon of Harry Potter movies but in culture as a whole.




1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011)

The final chapter of the Harry Potter saga is by far the most-beloved of all eight films. Although the story came to an end, it was a much-anticipated adaptation of Rowling’s closing novel and gave Potter fans everywhere an incredible ending to ten years of magical fantasy. The catharsis felt by long-time fans of the franchise once Harry and friends overcame the evil Voldemort was one of the most memorable Harry Potter moments of them all, the rest of the film bringing together character arcs that had lasted 7 further films across 10 years; the film’s plethora of awe-inspiring and/or emotional beats making for one of the best blockbuster releases of all time.
