Whitby Sci Fi and Comic Con – Signers

Along with the wide range of stalls, the Zombie Experience, replica movie props and other exhibits, Whitby Sci Fi and Comic Con also has some very special signers completing the line up of this already exciting event.

Virginia Hey

As Whitby Sci Fi and Comic Con was inspired and driven by a warrior woman it is only fitting that ‘Warrior Woman’ from cult classic Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981) is on the signing panel.

As well as her role as Warrior Woman, Australian actress Virginia Hey is probably best known for her role as Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan in the television series Farscape from 1999-2002. Virginia’s other acting credits include playing Laura Templar in Prisoner: Cell Block H in 1984, her role as Bond Girl Rubavitch in The Living Daylights (1987), as well as roles in well known Aussie soaps Neighbours and Home and Away.

As well as her long and varied acting career Virginia is also certified in natural therapy, and started her own company ‘White Flower Lei’ which specialises in soaps and perfumes.

Virginia will be offering autographs for £15 but her stories are priceless, products from the White Flower Lei range will also be available to buy at her table.

Leah Cairns

Canadian actress Leah Cairns is best known for her recurring role as Lieutenant Margaret “Racetrack” Edmondson in Battlestar Galactica (2004-2009), more recently Leah has starred as Lois Cooper, wife of Casey Affleck’s character Tom Cooper, in Christopher Nolan’s sci fi blockbuster Interstellar (2014). She has also starred alongside Al Pacino in 88 Minutes (2007), and was assistant director of the FBI Mitch Pileggi in 2011 television movie Mega Cyclone.



Pixie Le Knot

Winter is coming, so it is only fitting that someone from Game of Thrones comes to Whitby.

Pixie Le Knot, one of the most exceptional and flexible contortionists in the UK, is known for her role as Kayla in the smash hit HBO series, appearing as the star attraction in Littlefinger’s house of ill repute, and as the entertainment at Joffrey and Margaery’s wedding.

Pixie has also appeared in psychological horror It Never Sleeps (2014) as Chrissie, and will soon be seen as a zombie contortionist in upcoming disaster horror Apocalypse, she was also a stunt double for leading lady Fernanda Andrade in 2012’s The Devil Inside.

Pixie will be offering autographs for £10.

Virginia Hey, Leah Cairns and Pixie Le Knot will all be taking part in the first Q&A session at 11.30.

Spencer Wilding

Accomplished Welsh actor and special creature performer Spencer Wilding has recently been seen as Growler in Pan (2015), the mean prison guard from last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and Falque in Jupiter Ascending (2014). As a creature performer Spencer has also brought to life many different strange and spooky, weird and wonderful characters from horror, fantasy and science fiction films, including a werewolf in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2005), Robbie Coltrane’s body double as Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), in 2010’s The Wolfman Spencer played Benicio Del Toro’s body double as the titular Wolfman.

As well as a successful sci fi career Spencer Wilding has also starred in Greenstreet 3 (2013) as the head of Milwall, as well as roles in Danny Boyle’s Trance (2013) and indie film Dangerous Parking (2007), and even starred alongside Barbara Windsor in an advert for Jackpot Joy Bingo.

Spencer also appears alongside James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe in Victor Frankenstein released this week.

Spencer will be offering autographs and photos for £15, he will also be doing a kickboxing demonstration in the basement space of the Pavilion complex at 4pm after the Zombie Experience has been cleared away.

Chris Bunn

With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens just around the corner on December 17th, fans of the Star Wars franchise are in for a treat this weekend with Chris Bunn joining the signing panel at WSFCC. Chris Bunn was the original Stromtrooper in Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), as well as playing an astronaut in the famous ‘Cantina Scene’, Chris also went on to work on The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983).

Chris also starred in James Bond films: The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), Moonraker (1979) and The Living Daylights (1987), as well as Superman 1 & 2 and numerous Carry On films.

Chris Bunn has also had a successful career as a body double, doubling for both Kirk Douglas and Harvey Keitel in Stanley Donen’s sci fi thriller Saturn 3 (1980), Lewis Collins in the television series The Professionals. Chris also stood in for James Bond co-star Timothy Dalton in Agatha (1979) about renowned crime author Agatha Christie.

Chris will be offering autographs for £10, and conversation is a bonus so make it count and ask all those behind the scenes questions you’ve always wanted to know.

Phill Martin

Standing tall at 7 foot, Phill Martin is literally an unmissable addition to the signing panel, Phill’s height and skills in stage fighting and boxing made him perfect for his roles as an engineer in Ridley Scott’s award winning sci fi thriller Prometheus (2012) and as pantomime Giant in Jack the Giant Slayer (2013).

Phill also appears alongside fellow signer Spencer Wilding in Pan (2015) playing Goliath in the film charting the origins of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. His upcoming films include first time director Bradley Wolf’s fantasy film Heavener about one man’s quest to be reunited with his loved ones in heaven, and Dark Ascension a fantasy adventure film about the gates of heaven and hell being broken, and one group’s epic struggle to prevent an eternal battle between good and evil, due for release next year.

Phill Martin will be offering autographs and photos for £10.

Spencer Wilding, Chris Bunn and Phill Martin will all be taking part in the second Q&A session at 2.30pm.
