In news reported today, 24th March 2015, in The Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that fashion designer Tom Ford, known worldwide for his renowned and highly sought after work in upmarket fashion, will return to the role of feature film director for his first feature film since his award-winning 2009 gay romance drama A Single Man. The upcoming film, titled Nocturnal Animals, will adapt the respected Austin Wright book “Tony and Susan” from Baskerville Publishers and Grand Central Publishing, and will be the second film in the 53-year-old designer’s career.

Nocturnal Animals has been described as a post-modern noir thriller and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “tells of a man whose family vacation turns violent and deadly; and the story of Susan, who finds herself recalling her first marriage and confronting some dark truths about herself.”

Little is known of the project at this time other than that Tom Ford wrote the screenplay and will direct, with Hollywood A-lister and award-winning producer George Clooney (Ocean’s Eleven) being confirmed to produce the project alongside business partner Grant Heslov on behalf of Smokehouse Pictures.

Tom Ford earned a wide range of plaudits for A Single Man, assembling a cast that included Oscar-nominee Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Nicholas Hoult and Matthew Goode. The film was seen as a passion project given Ford’s success in other art forms and business ventures. Whilst little is known of this new Nocturnal Animals project, it can be assumed that it will follow a similar trajectory, the filmmaker embracing the themes he wishes to, whilst fulfilling another personal goal.
