The project, which is yet to find a writer, will cover the life of one of Hollywood’s most famous icons. Hudson was an Oscar-nominated actor for his work in 1956 film Giant and a famed 50s and 60s heartthrob. He was famously a closeted homosexual who had been diagnosed with HIV in 1984 unbeknown to the public and in 1985 became one of the first celebrities to die of complications with AIDS (a disease he denied having).

Berlanti, who has produced TV series “Vikings” and “Pose” among other things, also directed 2010 comedy Life As We Know It.
