‘Grease’ Prequel ‘Summer Loving’ Being Developed

Paramount Pictures are putting together a prequel to 1978 teen-romance-musical Grease that they are titling Summer Loving.

The picture, which would presumably tell the tale of how Sandy Olsson (Olivia Newton John) met Danny Zuko (John Travolta), will be written by Big Fish, Corpse Bride and Aladdin (2019) screenwriter John August, with Temple Hill (Love, Simon; First Man) and Picturestart, run by Lionsgate executive Erik Feig, being the production companies tasked with bringing the prequel to the big screen.

No details about the movie’s casting have been revealed as of yet with the project reportedly still in its very early stages, but Summer Loving is likely an attempt from Paramount to further cash in on the cultural phenomenon that is Grease and its lasting musical legacy.

There is currently no release date for this film.
