Suicide Squad actor Will Smith will team with Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland for a new animated feature film from 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios titled Spies in Disguise.
The movie, which will be produced in conjunction with Chernin Entertainment, will be based on original animated short Pigeon: Impossible directed by Lucas Martell.
Spies in Disguise will be directed by Epic, Ice Age: Collision Course and The Peanuts Movie directors Nick Bruno and Tory Quane, and will feature Will Smith and Tom Holland as a combination not unlike that of James Bond and Q in the 007 movies, with Holland’s Walter providing gadgets for Smith’s spy Lance Sterling.
Fox have seemed to shift their focus towards animation in recent weeks with Head of Studio Stacey Snider revealing she’d like the studio to be in a place to release an animated feature every quarter, with a Bob’s Burgers movie being announced last week and the studio entering a partnership with UK-based animation production house Locksmith Animation in late September.
Spies in Disguise will be released on 18th January 2019.
