Universal have out-bid Fox and Paramount for the rights to a holiday season comedy that is set to star academy award nominated actresses Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer.
The film, which is yet to have been given a title, is said to be along the lines of Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and has been written by co-star Jessica Chastain and Nine executive producer Kelly Carmichael.
Chastain’s own production company Freckle Films will produce the project alongside Maven Pictures, with Chastain herself, co-screenwriter Carmichael, Celine Rattray and Trudie Styler acting as producers on Freckle Films’ behalf. Erik Baiers and Mika Pryce will oversee the project for Universal.
The yet-to-be-titled film has yet to be given a release date but will see Chastain and Spencer reunite on screen for the first time since 2011 film The Help.
