‘Split’ Sequel Announced

Warning! Spoilers Ahead!

M. Night Shyamalan has confirmed that a sequel to his surprise hit ‘Split’ (2017) is set for release in 2019.

The movie, titled ‘Glass’, will follow the chronology of the universe set up by Shyamalan in ‘Split’ and ‘Unbreakable’ (2000), offering a decisive sequel to the highly thought of superhero origins movie that the director wrote the screenplay for and directed at the turn of the century.

Unbreakable stars Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson are each confirmed to be returning to their roles, with Split stars James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy also announced.

The director revealed the news via Twitter today (26th April 2017):

Split was a huge success for M. Night Shyamalan, earning upwards of $270million at the global box office from a $9million budget. At the time, the film was considered a major win for a director who was on the decline after a number of box office and critical failures, including the Will Smith starrer After Earth and 2010’s The Last Airbender starring Dev Patel, which was maligned for being racially insensitive and being unfaithful to the source material.

Glass will be released on the 18th of January 2019.
