Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has put pen to paper to join Legendary’s live-action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu. The news comes just 7 days after the announcement of ‘Big Little Lies’ star Kathryn Newton as one of the stars of the upcoming film.
The movie, which begins its London-based shoot in January 2018, will be directed Goosebumps‘ Rob Letterman and will co-star Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom actor Justice Smith.
The story will follow Smith’s character, a nosy journalist (Newton) and a special one-off breed of Pikachu (a mouse with electrical powers) as they investigate the kidnapping of Smith’s father. Reynolds will perform the motion-capture and voice work for the titular Detective Pikachu.
