Keira Knightley to Play Catherine the Great
Two-time Oscar nominee Keira Knightley is reportedly set to play Catherine the Great in a biopic about the famous Russian ruler.
The movie is set to be the first directorial feature in over 20 years for Barbra Streisand and is being written by Kristina Lauren Anderson, a 31 year old American whose script for this movie was selected as the top yet-to-be-made script on Hollywood’s 2014 Blacklist.
The period piece shall cover the ruler’s 34 year reign between 1762 and 1796, the longest of any female leader of the country and will be produced by Gil Netter (Life of Pi; The Blind Side).
