Legendary British screen actor John Hurt has passed away aged 77.
The actor who is perhaps best remembered for his performances as the Elephant Man in The Elephant Man (1980) and his performance as the chest-bursting crew member in Alien (1979) died after a severe battle with Pancreatic Cancer of which he was diagnosed in June 2015.
“It would get to the point where my children wouldn’t ask if I died, but rather… how do you die?”
Famed for his weathered looks and wispy voice, Hurt was a staple of mainstream cinema and independent cinema alike, personifying memorable roles in the likes of Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, V for Vendetta, Snowpiercer and Melancholia.
Our thoughts go out to his family.
