Jamie Foxx To Play Black Panthers Leader in New Film

Django Unchained star Jamie Foxx is set to re-team with Ray director Taylor Hackford for Signal Hill, a true-to-life drama about the infamous Signal Hill Scandal wherein police brutality towards a Black American male resulted in the young man’s death and was subsequently made national news.

Anthony Mackie has already been confirmed to star as famous attorney Johnnie Cochran who presented the case, while Elizabeth Banks will play an investigative journalist whose stories broke news and altered opinions on the tragedy. Jamie Foxx will play former Black Panthers leader Elmer “Geronimo” Pratt who was involved with Cochran for a case regarding a suspected murder the Panthers leader was framed for.

There is currently no release date for this picture, but filming is due to begin in January.
