‘American Gods’ star Ian McShane is set to join the cast of Millennium Films’ Hellboy reboot.
The English actor, who won a Golden Globe in 2005 for his performance in ‘Deadwood’, will play the titular character’s adoptive father Professor Broom (formerly played by John Hurt) in Neil Marshall’s imagining of the iconic comic book hero.
The movie was announced back in May, with ‘Stranger Things’ actor David Harbour being named as the on-screen successor to Ron Perlman – the actor who played the character between 2004 and 2008 under director Guillermo del Toro – and will start filming in the UK and Bulgaria from September.
McShane, Harbour and Marshall will be working from a script by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and television screenwriters Christopher Golden and Andrew Crosby.
The movie, which will go by the title Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, does not yet have a release date.
