Rupert Wyatt, the man charged with bringing Channing Tatum’s X-Men spin-off Gambit to the big screen, has departed the project after what the 42 year old Brit described as “conflicts with another project”.
The Rise of the Planet of the Apes director reportedly left after the production dates of the movie were pushed back due to script rewrites which forced him to choose between two of his projects and ultimately exit 20th Century Fox’s movie.
The director issued the following statement:
“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”
