Disney have taken further steps towards completing their cast for the upcoming live-action remake of their beloved animated classic Aladdin, by casting Ben-Hur (2016) and The Mummy (2017) actor Marwan Kenzari as Jafar.
Kenzari is a Dutch actor of Tunisian descent whose rise to fame looks set to be completed in the upcoming Kenneth Branagh movie Murder on the Orient Express (set for release in November 2017). He will be joined on the cast by fellow new addition Nasim Pedrad, an Iranian born American comic who had a stint on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and will play a role made specifically for the live-action re-imagining.
Iconic British director Guy Ritchie is set to direct the film which announced its Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie last month at D23, with Will Smith being the most marketable name thus far.
There remains no release date for this film.
