The sequel to ‘World War Z’ is back in the pipeline at Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, with David Fincher set to take the director’s chair.
The sequel to the Brad Pitt starring zombie movie was reportedly shelved in the early months of 2017, but new Paramount Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos is reported to have prioritised the project and believed to be central to Fincher’s involvement.
Brad Pitt will return to his role as Gerry Lane, making ‘World War Z 2’ the fourth time that the actor has partnered with Fincher. The other three movies being: Se7en, Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
Though the movie has not yet been officially green lit by Gianopulos and Paramount, it is expected to be by the end of May and will mark the new CEO’s first major green-lit project.
The original ‘World War Z’ movie was plagued by a host of problems including numerous changes in the directors chair, but given the positive working relationships Fincher has to both Gianopulos and Pitt, the director’s position on the sequel seems all-but guaranteed.
