A long-awaited movie about Marvel Avenger Black Widow has taken a step forward with TiMER director Jac Schaeffer being brought on board to pen a script.
The director, whose screenwriting credits include 2017 Disney short Olaf’s Frozen Adventure and the upcoming Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988) update Nasty Woman (starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson), is the first major hire of the coming film which remains in the earliest stages of development.
Scarlett Johansson has been playing the famous female character since 2010 and is expected to reprise the role in the stand-alone movie.
The first female-led Marvel movie, Captain Marvel, will be released in 2019 and will star Brie Larson. There is currently no scheduled release date announced for Black Widow, though Scarlett Johansson has promised that more news will follow the release of Avengers: Infinity War this summer.
