The Untouchables and Ocean’s Elevan actor Andy Garcia has officially joined the cast of Universal’s Mamma Mia! sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
The actor will join a cast that comprises of the prequel’s biggest names, including lead actress Meryl Streep, and will play a new role that is currently being kept under wraps.
Universal made a total of $609.8million at the worldwide box office from a $52million production in 2008 with Mamma Mia!, giving rise to the sequel which will be released in July 2018.
Ol Parker, the screenwriter for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel, and the director of Now Is Good (2012), will direct write and direct the film based on a story by himself, Richard Curtis and Catherine Johnson. Abba members Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus are providing music and lyrics for the picture.
