Affleck, Damon Teaming for McDonald’s Monopoly Theft Movie

According to reports at Deadline, Ben Affleck is set to direct and Matt Damon is set to star in a new movie from Fox based on the true story of an ex-police officer who rigged the McDonald’s Monopoly game, allegedly stealing upwards of $24million.

The true story, published by The Daily Beast several days ago and written by Jeff Maysh, was reportedly the centre of a bidding war from a number of interested parties including the Downey’s (Robert and Susan) and Todd Phillips via Netflix, Steve Carell via Warner Bros. and Universal for Kevin Hart.

Fox have set up the project with Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick on board to write the script, Affleck set to direct and Damon set to star. The movie will be produced by Fox’s Matt Reilly and Pearl Street’s Madison Ainley.

The movie, which has yet to be titled, will be based on the true story of a conspiracy involving mobsters, psychics, strip-club owners, drug traffickers and Mormons who falsely claimed to have won more than $24million in cash and prizes.
