The Film Magazine is undergoing a small shift in focus and, as such, we’re on the lookout for new contributors.
Moving forward we shall be emphasising our output of articles aimed at niche audiences. In correspondence with this, we’re looking to have a host of new talent join our team as regular contributors. So, if you’re a film scholar, graduate, self-appointed critic or general cinephile, we’d like to talk with you.
Currently, The Film Magazine is looking for writers to submit articles about/regarding the following:
Foreign Language Cinema
All applications shall be considered and shall receive a response.
Our Commitment to You – as a contributing writer and member of the TFM team, we guarantee that your work will be promoted across social media platforms to a cumulative audience of over 4,000 people. Furthermore, each and every submission will be reviewed and edited by an editor with nearly 5 years experience and two film-related degrees (BA & MA), ensuring that the best qualities of your work are emphasised and that you develop or maintain the level of your analytical and critical repertoires, thus helping you to develop a rich portfolio of film related work. We will also, of course, provide references for any contributor who may need them in the next steps of their career.
How to Apply – email [email protected] with the following:
A Movie-Specific CV
– we don’t need your work history etc. just a document outlining that you run a film blog or regularly comment on popular forums, visit the cinema, and that kind of thing –
A Cover Letter
– you’ll be contacting our editor directly so you’ll need to illustrate your personality. We suggest listing 3-5 of your favourite films [we know it’s tough!] and making a few suggestions for articles you’d like to try or themes you’d like to explore –
The Application Process – The Film Magazine is dedicated to helpful and timely responses to all applicants. Successful applicants will undergo an exchange of dialogue with our editor who will discuss the proposed articles or themes of the application itself and help to forge a direction for your first submission. A conversation with regard to timetables will also be discussed – we currently operate on a four-week rota, meaning you have to submit at least one piece per four weeks to join our team. Then, once you’re in, you’re in! You’ll be granted access to submit articles directly to thefilmagazine.com and will become a fully fledged member of the team.
All roles with The Film Magazine are currently voluntary and are therefore unpaid. This is due to the website being relatively new and entirely self-funded, thus needing the funds earned through advertising and merchandise to grow and develop. No member of the TFM team, from the founding members to the newest additions, get paid for their involvement; The Film Magazine is a passion project for those who are passionate about film.
We look forward to hearing from you!
