Jo Nesbo’s ‘The Son’ Announces Director & Star

Jo Nesbo’s famous novel, ‘The Son’, is set to be adapted for the big screen by Nine Stories and Bold Films.

The movie, which shall be based on the Scandinavian writer’s story of a once promising wrestler whose life takes a downward spiral when his father commits suicide, shall star Jake Gyllenhaal and will be directed by his regular collaborator Denis Villeneuve (Enemy, Prisoners).

Producer Riva Marker released the following statement while announcing the project:

“Denis is one of the most inspiring filmmakers working today, and partnering with him on The Son represents everything that Jake and I strived for when we launched the company. Provocative and edgy material in collaboration with a visionary storyteller. We were attracted toThe Son because beneath its dark and violent exterior is a universal story about a man who seeks the truth.”
