F. Gary Gray To Direct ‘Fast & Furious 8’

F. Gary Gray, the man who directed this Summer’s surprise hit Straight Outta Compton, has reportedly entered exclusive talks with Universal over the role of director for the 8th installment of the Fast & Furious franchise.

The 46 year old director has been chosen ahead of Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me, Clash of the Titans) and Adam Wingard (V/H/S, The Guest) who were also candidates for the role vacated by Furious 7’s director James Wan.

Gray, whose directorial credits also include Friday (1995), The Negotiator (1998), The Italian Job (2003), Be Cool (2005) and Law Abiding Citizen (2009), has directed Furious star Vin Diesel once before in 2003’s A Man Apart.

Fast & Furious 8 is set for an April 2017 release date.
